The goal of the project was to create an interactive digital experience related to Raoul Wallenberg's life and World War II, which visitors to the memorial park could take part in with the help of their mobile devices.

Challenges

  1. Unique User Flows: Crafting user flows that catered to the diverse audience of park visitors, with special consideration for age-appropriate content for school classes, presented a creative challenge.
  2. Interactive Material: Ensuring that the material from survivors and witnesses of the Second World War was presented in an engaging and interactive manner required careful planning and execution.
  3. Respectful Design: Designing interactions and visuals that honored the memory of Holocaust victims and survivors without sensationalizing or trivializing their experiences was a crucial aspect of the project.
  4. Accessibility: Adhering to WCAG directives while maintaining the integrity of the design and interactive elements posed a challenge, necessitating thorough testing and adaptation.

Approach

  1. Client Workshops: Workshops were conducted with the client to brainstorm concepts that aligned with the project's objectives. Unique user flows were developed to provide an engaging and educational experience for park visitors.
  2. Interactive Material Development: Significant time was spent on curating and developing interactive materials from survivors and witnesses of the Second World War. These materials were integrated into the digital web experience to enrich the storytelling process with a focus on sensitivity and respect of the material.
  3. Wireframes and Prototypes: Several wireframes were created to outline the structure and flow of the digital experience. These wireframes were then translated into clickable prototypes using Figma, allowing for interactive exploration of the proposed design.
  4. Accessibility Testing: Throughout the design process, emphasis was placed on adhering to WCAG directives to ensure accessibility for all users, including those with disabilities. Extensive testing was conducted to validate compliance with accessibility standards.

Results

The project yielded the following outcomes:
